Welcome to the Crime and Suspense ezine website, a place for fans and writers of crime, suspense and mystery stories.
We like Golden Age crime stories, classic P.I. stories, modern detective stories, historical mysteries, spooky suspense, and cozy mysteries. If you are looking for stories that make your palms sweat, make you look over your shoulder or cause you to check in the closet and under the bed before you turn out the lights, this is the place!
NEWS for Authors!
Beginning with the May/June 2008 issue, any author whose story is accepted, and is not already a subscriber to the ezine, shall receive a FREE one-year subscription to the ezine—a $12 value! This is in addition to any story fee paid.
Please note: only one such free subscription can be given to an author, however, and it is not retroactive to authors who have stories accepted before this issue.
Giveaway Results From the Last Issue!
In the May/June issue, you'll recall, we had three giveaways set up for our subscribers (bless their hearts!) Here are the results of those giveaway drawings:
For the $25 gift certificate to Amazon: Connie Horr
For the $25 gift certificate to TBO Tech: Katt Dunsmore
For the tickets to performances at the International Mystery Writers' Festival in Owensboro, KY: Dennis Leppanen
And, special treat: here is an article written by Dennis Leppanen, describing his trip to the festival!
The Current Issue (July/August 2008) has three different giveaways!
We have a great opportunity for some lucky subscribers to get a full working copy of WriteItNow software, a LOST SOULS tee-shirt from Lisa Jackson and an autographed copy of DYING TO BE THIN by Katherine Lilley. Check the current issue for details!
Writers Take NOTE:
If you are SUBMITTING a story, read the Guidelines and the Themes! All issues this year through October are themed. If your story doesn't fit a theme, or you can't identify that theme clearly in the email that goes with the story, don't send it.

The readers of Crime and Suspense chose Janice Alonso's story "Beach Week Reunion" as their favorite for the May/June issue of Crime and Suspense. The theme for that issue was "Spring Into Summer." For impressing everyone with her writing, Janice received a lovely basic-black Crime and Suspense t-shirt. Here is a picture of her modeling her new finery!
