Welcome to the Crime and Suspense ezine website, a place for fans and writers of crime, suspense and mystery stories.
We like Golden Age crime stories, classic P.I. stories, modern detective stories, historical mysteries, spooky suspense, and cozy mysteries. If you are looking for stories that make your palms sweat, make you look over your shoulder or cause you to check in the closet and under the bed before you turn out the lights, this is the place!
NEWS for Authors!
Beginning with the May/June 2008 issue, any author whose story is accepted, and is not already a subscriber to the ezine, shall receive a FREE one-year subscription to the ezine—a $12 value! This is in addition to any story fee paid.
Please note: only one such free subscription can be given to an author, however, and it is not retroactive to authors who have stories accepted before this issue.
Two Book Giveaways!
We had quite a few people interested in our free copies of MURDER NEW YORK STYLE and NEVER SAFE! Emails for the drawing poured in, and on April 2 we drew two names randomly from the entrants.
Debby Buchanan (of Deadly Ink fame) was the winner of MURDER NEW YORK STYLE and Larry Marshall was the happy recipient of NEVER SAFE. We hope you enjoy those books, Debby and Larry!
(And just to give you fair warning: We have a couple of different giveaways in the May/June '08 issue of the Crime and Suspense ezine, involving gift certificates worth $25 each. So don't miss out! But you must be a subscriber to participate. And please note the rules governing Prizes and Giveaways.)
Writers Take NOTE:
If you are SUBMITTING a story, read the Guidelines and the Themes! All issues this year through October are themed. If your story doesn't fit a theme, or you can't identify that theme clearly in the email that goes with the story, don't send it.
The readers of Crime and Suspense chose Peg Herring's story "The Blizzard and Mrs. Beard" as their favorite for the March/April issue of Crime and Suspense. The theme for that issue is "Weather Or Not!" So, we sent Peg a nice Crime and Suspense t-shirt (sorry, Peg, we were all out of size Medium!!) and here's a picture of her modeling her new finery. Enjoy it in good health, Peg, and tell everyone about your story in Crime and Suspense!
